Cole turned 6 on Tuesday. We celebrated the entire day! He opened his presents from Mom and Dad and Izzy in the morning (a new Wii game and a color wonder book). He took his favorite treat to school (crumb donuts)to share with his class.
That afternoon we had a game themed party with 9 of his friends. The boys played outside games like Red Rover, Freeze Tag and Tug of War, but the favorite by far was when we came inside to play the Wii. They ate pizza and had Wii remote shaped cookies.
That night family came to celebrate with us. Cole was most thrilled with the money (a bunch of $1 bills)from Grandpa and Grandma O. and the two new Wii games from Grandpa and Grandma Duersch and Grandpa and Grandma Oborn. And, we can't forget the watermelon from Grandpa and Grandma Duersch also.
All in all it was a great day! Cole was spoiled silly and Mom and Dad could barely drag ourselves up the stairs to bed that night we were so tired. Now we get a few weeks rest 'til we celebrate Izzy's 2nd birthday. (:

First Camp
This last weekend we went with the Desmond cousins for our first camping trip of the year. We camped down in Southern Utah near Goblin Valley State Park. The first thing both of my kids did when we got out of the van was to lay down and roll around in the red dirt. (So much for staying somewhat clean the first day!) I'm still washing clothes, kids, blankets, etc. and finding red dirt in places I never knew it could be.
We went hiking in Crack Canyon on Friday then to the Valley of the Goblins on Saturday. Cole loved climbing up on all the "goblins" with his cousing. He was a trooper and Isabel was right there with them. I forgot the baby backpack, so we thought we'd give her a shoulder ride most of the way, but she wouldn't hear of that. She wanted to walk/hike it all...even the spots where she obviously wasn't quite tall enough to actually reach the ground below. Thanks to Greg and Tami for letting us use their baby backpack on part of the trip.
We colored our Easter Eggs at camp on Saturday. We were going to have an egg hunt, but the weather didn't allow for it. It rained through the night on Friday and then hailed a bit on Saturday. Of course, the weather was sunny just about the time it was time to pack up and come home. We had a great time regardless of the weather and are ready to camp some more!
A special thanks to Jason for going down early and staving off the other ravenous campers that would want our spot!
Here's some pics of our camping adventures!
